Special Education - Inclusive Ed and Wellness Support
Born in Edmonton to a Newfie father and French Canadian mother, I grew up in the town of the Crowsnest Pass, southwest of Eden Valley. I’ve always loved art, soccer, skiing, and horseback riding. When I graduated high school, I attended the University of Lethbridge for Art and Education. During my time at university, I began working with special needs kids and at risk youth. I met some of the most incredible, resilient youth. Through this work, I found my heart and my calling. When you know, you know! In 2012, I started work as a special needs teacher in Northeast Calgary after teaching French and art for a couple of years. I worked in that position until coming out here.
Now, I’m the Resource Teacher and Wellness Coach which are some fancy words for saying that I am in charge of helping students get the supports they need, but also our on-site person to talk to students when they need someone to talk to and to help guide teachers in social emotional learning. I have 2 toddler boys, so if I look tired, just bring me coffee.
My time here so far has been a whirlwind of learning, growing, and meeting some more incredibly amazing individuals. I can’t wait to see what else comes from my time at Eden Valley!
